We invite you to attend one of three public meetings being hosted by the Lahontan Water Board to gather input from stakeholders and interested persons on its Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategy. Meetings will be held on Sept. 28 (Truckee), Oct. 5 (Apple Valley), and Oct. 11 (Bishop).
The Water Board is seeking feedback on the range of options it could implement for adapting to climate change. Options will focus on three priority areas: (1) protection of wetlands, floodplains, and headwaters, (2) protection of recharge areas and infrastructure, and (3) increasing storm water treatment and infiltration.
We have identified a number of ideas based on stakeholder input and on input from within our organization. We have identified tasks the Lahontan Water Board is already undertaking, and we have also listed ideas for further actions. We have identified several options, some where Water Board staff will lead the effort and others where we partner with others and/or allow them to lead/implement. We are interested in your ideas and suggestions for actions the Water Board should be doing and your ideas on priorities for such actions. We value your participation.
In preparation for the workshops, please review the attached meeting materials. The attached materials can also be viewed from our Climate Change Adaptation webpage. Meeting materials include an agenda for the September meeting. Though similar in format, the agenda will be updated to correspond with the October meetings. See link for more information
